Weaving a love of literacy through arts, culture and community!
Our History
FYR is LIT began in 2017 on Saint Croix, USVI with the purpose to engage teens in cross cultural leadership development and service projects for the community. In its third season the program founders (Emmanuella Perez-Cassius, Tralice Bracy and Leslie Hamdorf) are excited to expand FYR is LIT to Denver, Colorado and work with second graders from the Holly Street Boys and Girls Club. FYR is LIT has also expanded our community partnerships in Saint Croix to include the Saint Croix Environmental Association. Our original partners include and still remain: Caribbean Center for Boys and Girls Clubs, Claude O'Markoe Elementary School and Caribbean Museum Center for the Arts.
